Australian women are set to benefit from a unique blending of science and skin care with the launch of a new anti-ageing product created by local dermalogical expert Ms Edyta Stelmach.

A qualified formulation chemist with years of experience in creating skin care products for other major brands, Ms Stelmach has created high-concentration ‘Skinsilk-A' capsules each containing 0.75 percent retinol or vitamin A.

Skinsilk-A which is manufactured in Melbourne and packaged in an exquisite diamond-cut jar with 30 heart-shaped capsules, is the flagship product of Stelmach's cosmeceutical company Ederma, which offers women luxuriously affordable, highly effective anti-aging products.

According to Stelmach, research has found that retinol is superior to retinyl palmitate as it is more readily available for skin absorption whereas retinyl palmitate relies on the skin enzymes to convert it to retinol before it can be absorbed by the skin. The rate of conversion of retinyl palmitate to retinol is extremely low, reducing the amount that is delivered to the cells.

"The truth is that only stabilised retinol is effective in improving skin imperfections and the only way to minimise its vulnerability to light and oxygen is through encapsulating it - retinol by and large is not suitable for use in moisturising creams even though it's widely used in this exposed way," said Ms Stelmach.

When stable and its solidity has been secured, the active ingredient in Skinsilk-A, retinol, is believed to stimulate cell regeneration and build collagen to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin imperfections.

• 7 days - skin looks and feels smoother
• 4 weeks - skin looks noticeably firmer with fine lines and wrinkles diminishing
